GREENSBORO, N.C. –Alabama State University's men's track & field performers
Belden Ferguson and
Delorean Peek opened up competition Thursday at the NCAA East Regional meet on North Carolina A&T's Irwin Belk Track.
Ferguson competed in the long jump while Peek raced in the 400m event. Neither of the Hornet competitors posted an advancing mark. The top 12 finishers in the field events earn invitations to the NCAA Championship and the top 24 runners in each event advance to quarterfinal heats in Greensboro.
Peek earned a 42nd place finish after sprinting to a time of 47.61. Ferguson finished 39th after posting a best jump of 7.14m in the first of his three attempts.
Ferguson makes his second attempt at advancing to the NCAA Championship Friday afternoon in the 110m hurdles. Peek also has another chance Saturday as part of ASU's 4x400m relay squad.
