Track Performers Compete at Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA
– With the NCAA East Regional just two weeks away, several Alabama State University track and field athletes competed in the Georgia Tech Invitational at Griffin Track over the weekend with hopes of posting qualifying times for NCAA competition.

On the women's side, Dawn Hermanes finished 19th in the 100m after racing to a time of 11.69 in the preliminary heat. ASU's 4x100m relay time, consisting of Hermanes, Tokeyah Jones, Jamie Brooks and Asha Tavernier, finished sixth with a time of 46.06.

For the Bama State men, Christopher Duncan posted a time of 1:53.24 (35th) in the 800m while Beldon Ferguson earned an 11th place finish in the long jump (23'02.50”) and 38th-place showing in the 110m hurdles (14.84). In addition the Hornets' 4x400m relay team (Charles Flewellen, Jonathan Franklin, Vincent Butler, Delorean Peek) collected a third-place finish with a time of 3:08.19.

The NCAA East Regional is slated for May 27-29 in Greensboro, N.C. Participants for the regional event will be announced later this week.
