Gamecock Softball Rained Out Again

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – For the second-straight week, the Jacksonville State softball team has had an entire Ohio Valley Conference series rained out.

The Gamecocks' three-game set at Austin Peay was officially called because of thunderstorms in the Clarksville, Tenn., area on Sunday after the same weather system forced the cancellation of Saturday's scheduled doubleheader. It comes one week after JSU's series at Southeast Missouri was cancelled because of rain in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Jax State, who sits in third place in the OVC standings, will now have to hope the final weekend of the regular season will provide enough time for the Gamecocks to catch second-place Morehead State. The Eagles were two games ahead of the Gamecocks entering Sunday, and they were scheduled to try and get in a pair of games at Murray State.

In the final weekend of the regular season, Morehead State will host first-place UT Martin, while the Gamecocks will host Tennessee State. JSU and TSU will open the series on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. before finishing the season with a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free for all JSU home games at University Field.
