Day One Results
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Laveeta Oliver, Elizabeth Bond and
Tasheilra Jones qualified for the finals in their respective events while two others tallied points on day one of the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
Elizabeth Bond ran a 55.32 as the top qualifier in the 400-meter dash and ran a 25.52 to qualify eighth in the 200-meter dash. Bond's time topped her season and career best of 55.80 times at the Ole Miss Invitational on April 10. Jones also qualified with a 57.66 in the 400-meter dash.
Oliver qualified fourth with a 12.35 in the 100-meter dash and clocked a season-best 25.31 to qualify 6th in the 200-meter dash.
Ericka Stam finished tied for fourth in the 3000-meter Steeplechase with a time of 12:26.56. Ericka Thomas tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of five-feet, 2.1/4 inches.
The Gamecocks are currently in sixth place after day one of competition with 4.50 points and will look to make a climb up the standings when competition resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m.
