Ryan Perrilloux and Torrey Davis Agree to NFL Free Agent Contracts

Jacksonville State's Ryan Perrilloux and Torrey Davis have both signed free-agent contracts to play professional football, the duo announced on Sunday.

Perrilloux will play with the Minnesota Vikings, while Davis will play with the Tampa Bay Bucs.

“I'm very excited about the opportunity to continue my football career,” Perrilloux said on Sunday. “It has always been a dream of mine to get an opportunity to play professional football and now I've got a chance to do that.”

Perrilloux was an All-America quarterback for the Gamecocks in 2009, while Davis was a defensive lineman named to the All-OVC newcomer squad.

“I'm proud that Ryan and Torrey will both have a chance to continue their football careers” said JSU head coach Jack Crowe. “They were both contributors on the field and were a major reason we finished with an 8-3 record and posted the best record in the OVC last year.”

Perrilloux, who was also named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year, led the conference in passing efficiency (172.58) and ranked fourth nationally in points responsible for (18.6 points/game). The senior quarterback also set several other single-season school records, including touchdowns responsible for (31), total offense per game (279.3) and total offense per play (8.36). The LaPlace, La., native finished the season with 2,350 yards, which was the third best in school history, and his 42 career passing touchdowns is third, while his 61.0 completion percentage is also third in school history.

The senior signal caller won Offensive Player of the Week honors seven times in 2009, which is an OVC record, and he claimed the honor nine times during his two-year career to tie for the most-ever in the league's 61-year.

Davis, a transfer from Florida, played in all 11 games and finished the season with 16 tackles, including nine solo. He added 2.5 sacks with one pass breakup and recovered one fumble.

Jacksonville State finished the 2009 season with the best record in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 6-1 conference mark after posting an 8-3 overall record for the second straight year.
