JSU Women's Golf Finishes Second at 2010 OVC Championship

DICKSON, Tenn. – Saturday's final nine holes of the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship has been rained out and Jacksonville State will post a second-place finish at the 2010 rain-shortened event.

The teams played 27 holes on Friday and attempted to play the final nine holes on Saturday, but the event was rained out.

Murray State claimed its second consecutive championship with a total score of 747. Jacksonville State finished second, just five shots back, with a total of 753 and Morehead State was third with a 760. Austin Peay (+49) finished fourth, followed by Eastern Kentucky (+58), Eastern Illinois (+77), Tennessee Tech (+87) and Tennessee State (+237).

Jax State finished with all five golfers in the top 15, led by Lucia Fernandez's fourth place finish (+6), while Laura Cutler tied for seventh at plus-8. Luz Armijo tied for 13th at plus-13 and Ashley Cox finished one shot back in 15th place. Fernandez was named to the OVC All-Tournament team.

Austin Peay's Chelsea Harris claimed the individual title by five strokes and was named the OVC Most Valuable Player.
