JSU Track and Field Posts OVC Top Times At Auburn Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. –
The Jacksonville State Track and Field team posted six top 10 finishes and had nine times and distances rank on the Ohio Valley Conference Top 10 performance lists on Saturday at the Auburn Invitational.

Elizabeth Bond, Tasheilra Jones, Natasha and Latasha Sturkie took home fourth place while breaking  the JSU record with a 3:48.53. The time ranks first on the OVC top 10 lists beating the top mark of 3:48.80 held by Southeast Missouri.

Bond turned in the third best time in the OVC with a 56.27 in the 400-meter dash and ran the sixth best OVC time with a career-best 25.24 in the 200-meter dash.

Laveeta Oliver clocked the third best OVC time, running a 12.11 in the 100-meter dash.

Ericka Stam finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase, running a career-best 11:40.89, ranking fourth in the OVC.

Amber Wiley pole vaulted 11-feet, 7 ¾ inches for fourth place overall and in the OVC.

Christina Tupper turned in a season-best distance of 38-feet, 10 ½ inches in the triple jump to finish fourth and rank third in the OVC.

Latasha Sturkie's 1:04.69 in the 400-meter hurdles was a season-best time and put her fourth in the OVC.

Ashley Stovall finished eighth in the 5000-meter with a persona record 18:26.92, moving her into sixth on the OVC lists.

The Gamecocks will compete in the Troy Invitational in Troy, Ala., on Saturday.
