BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A pair of Alabama State University track and field student-athletes swept the Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track Performers of the Week honors as
Tokeyah Jones and Beldon Ferguson were picked Thursday by the league office.
A sophomore sprinter, Jones scored a pair of first place finishes during the USA Invitational meet in Mobile, Ala., last week. She claimed the 100-meter run title with a 12.00 time while also winning the 200-meter run in 24.26. Additionally, Jones was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that posted a second place finish in a time of 46.76.
Ferguson, a junior, won the 110-meter hurdles (14.48) event while claiming a third place finish in the long jump (7.04m) and a fifth place finish in the triple jump (13.39m). He also helped the Hornets' 4x100-meter relay team pick up a third place finish (41.77).
The Hornet duo and their teammates next compete Friday and Saturday at the Auburn Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
