JACKSONVILLE – Frankie Bougher, a sharp shooting guard from Memphis, signed to join the Jacksonville State basketball team on Wednesday's National Signing Day, head coach
James Green announced.
Bougher, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound prep star from Christian Brothers High School, signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday and will join Green and the Gamecocks for the 2010-11 season.
“I am very excited about Frankie Bougher becoming a part of the Gamecock Basketball family,” Green said. “We are very fortunate to have a guy of Frankie's character and skill level. He will represent us very well in all aspects of our program and will be a great part of our future success.”
Bougher averaged 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game as a senior to lead the Purple Wave to a 26-5 record and the TSSAA D2-AA State Championship Game, where he received all-tournament recognition. At the conclusion of his senior season, the TSWA All-State selection was also was named Region MVP, a first team all-metro selection and a finalist for Tennessee's Mr. Basketball Award.
In the quarterfinals of the state tournament, Bougher scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Purple Wave to a 68-42 win over St. Benedict that advanced them to the D2-AA Final Four in Nashville. They defeated McCallie of Chattanooga in the semifinals before falling in the state championship game.
