KENNESAW, Ga. – Jacksonville State pounded out a season-high 20 hits en route to a 11-4 win over Kennesaw State on Tuesday at Stillwell Stadium.

The Gamecocks had nine extra base hits on the evening that included five doubles, three home runs and a triple and had the lead off hitter reach base in eight of nine innings.

Kyle Bluestein, who needed a double for the cycle, went 4-for-5 with four RBI, a triple and a home run to lead the Gamecocks. Todd Cunningham, Bert Smith, and freshmen Cal Lambert and Orrin McFadden had three hits apiece while Daniel Adamson and Andrew Edge had a pair of hits.

Cunningham, who had three stolen bases on the night, led the game off with a single and after stealing third scored on an error by the Kennesaw State third baseman on the play to give JSU an early 1-0 lead.

The Owls took a 2-1 lead with a two-run third before the Gamecocks plated four in the fourth, two in the fifth and seventh and one in the sixth to build a 10-2 lead.

Edge doubled to start the fourth and scored on a Bluestein triple to tie the game. Adamson followed with a two-run home run to left field to bring home Bluestein and give JSU the lead for good. A Lambert RBI single added the final run in the fourth to give JSU a 4-2 lead.

Edge begin the two-run fifth with his second double and scored one batter later when Bluestein homered to centerfield to extend the lead 6-2.

Cunningham singled to left and advanced to third on a Smith double in the sixth. Cunningham later came home on a ground out for a 7-2 advantage.

McFadden led off the seventh with a single bringing. Lambert followed with a two-run home run off the Kennesaw club house patio in left center to give JSU a 10-2 lead.

The Owls added two runs in the eighth to trim the deficit to 10-4 before JSU scored the final run of the night when Blake Seguin came home from third after Sam Eberle reached on a fielder's choice.

Tanner Freshour (4-1) tossed four scoreless innings with a strike out while allowing just one hit as the pitcher of record for JSU. Todd Hornsby had two strike outs and gave up only one hit in 1 2/3 innings of work to close the game.

KSU starter Catlan Kendrick (0-2) gave up five runs, three earned, on eight hits in three plus innings to take the loss for the Owls.

Jacksonville State returns to Ohio Valley Conference play against Austin Peay at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Clarksville, Tenn.
