BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jacksonville State junior Ashley Eliasson has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week after guiding the Gamecock softball team to a 4-1 record last week, the league office announced on Monday.

Eliasson, a 5-foot-7 pitcher from Vallejo, Calif., posted a 3-0 record and an 0.62 earned run average for the Gamecocks (19-16, 6-6 OVC), who won mid-week games against Alabama State and UAB before claiming two of their three games at Morehead State over the weekend.

Eliasson started three games for Jacksonville State and earned the win in all three starts. She held UAB to one unearned run on three-hits in six innings of work before following that up a pair of wins in the series at MSU, who entered the weekend tied atop the league standings. She capped that series with a three-hit shutout of the Eagles that wrapped up a week that saw her allow just two earned runs in 22.2 innings in the circle.

The Gamecocks return home on Wednesday, when they host Tennessee Tech at 4 p.m. in a single Ohio Valley Conference game at University Field. Admission is free to all JSU home games.
