MOBILE, Ala. – The Alabama State University track and field team captured 11 event titles and posted numerous top eight individual finishes Saturday at the University of South Alabama Invitational held at Jaguar Track.

ASU's event championships included seven on the women's side (100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, high jump, discus, shot put) and four for the men's squad (400m, 110m hurdles, 800m, 4x400m relay).

For the Lady Hornets, Tokeyah Jones collected top finishes in both the 100m (12.00) and 200m (24.26) and was a member of the 4x100m relay team that posted a second-place showing. Shexnieavia Bryant, a specialist in the throws, also earned a pair of individual titles in the discus (42.80m) and shot put (13.04m) while finishing fourth in the hammer throw (43.55m).

Beldon Ferguson was busy for the men's team Saturday winning the 110m hurdles (14.48) to go along with a third-place showing in the long jump (7.04m) and a fifth-place finish in the triple jump (13.39m). He also helped ASU's 4x100m relay team pick up a third-place finish.

Bama State dominated the 800m event capturing four of the top eight times in the women's competition and posting four of the five fastest times on the men's side. Whitney Austin earned the women's title clocking a 2:18.09 while Delorean Peek posted a 1:51.15 en route to the men's crown.

The ASU track and field teams continue their outdoor season Apr. 16-17 at the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
