No. 19 Alabama Earns Extra-Inning Win Over Jax State

JACKSONVILLE – Alabama rallied to score six runs in the top of the 11th inning as the Crimson Tide claimed a 10-4 win over Jacksonville State in front a Rudy Abbott Field record crowd of 3,392 fans.

The No. 19 Crimson Tide improves to 20-9 on the season, while Jacksonville State drops to 16-13 overall.

The two teams battled to a 4-4 tie heading into the 11th inning, before Brock Bennett led of with a single to left field and moved to second when Jon Kelton reached on a Gamecock error on a sacrifice bunt. After loading the bases on an intentional walk, Bennett came around to score the go-ahead run on an Alex Jones wild pitch.

Clay Jones then walked to loaded the bases, before Ross Wilson drew a walk to give Alabama a 6-4 lead. Cal Tinsley then had a three-RBI double to push the lead to 9-4 lead, before Andrew Miller followed with a RBI single for the final margin.

Nathan Kilcrease (2-0) allowed just one hit in four innings of relief to earn the win for the Crimson Tide. Jones (1-2) gave up only one hit, but allowed the run to suffer the loss for the Gamecocks.

Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI by Clay Jones, before the Gamecocks tied the game in the second when Daniel Adamson scored on a Blake Seguin ground out.

The Crimson Tide pushed the lead to 2-1 in the third on a when David Kindred had a RBI single and then extended the lead in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt by Brock Bennett to build a 3-1 lead.

Jacksonville State scored a run in the fourth on a Steven Leach sacrifice fly and tied the game in the sixth inning on a RBI double by Kyle Blustein to make the score 4-4.

Alabama took a 5-4 lead in the top of the eighth inning when Ross Wilson scored on a double by Tinsley, before Jax State tied the game in the home half of the eighth.

Adamson led off triple and tied the game at 5-5 on a sacrifice fly by Seguin to force extra innings.

Tinsley finished 3-for-5 with four RBI to lead Alabama, while Adamson had three hits to lead Jacksonville State.

Jax State returns to action with a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series against Murray State this weekend. Saturday's double-header begins at 1 p.m., while Sunday's finale will also begin at 1 p.m.
