JSU's Crow Named OVC Softball Player of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jacksonville State junior Amanda Crow has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's player of the Week for her efforts in the Gamecocks' five league games last week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Crow, a 5-foot-9 third baseman fro Sharpsburg, Ga., hit .500 with three homers, a double, six runs scored and eight RBI in guiding the Gamecocks (15-15, 4-5 OVC) to a split at Tennessee Tech and a series win over first-place and previously unbeaten UT Martin. She entered the week with just one home run and two RBI on the season then posted a 1.333 slugging percentage and a .562 on-base percentage over the five-game stretch.

The transfer from Georgia Perimeter College hit safely in all five games and drove in at least one run in four of the five. She started the week with a three-run homer to help JSU to a 5-1 win at TTU before helping the Gamecocks take two of the three games against UTM. In the series against the Skyhawks, she went 4-for-8 with two home runs, a double, four runs scored and five RBI. In the series opener, Crow hit a two-run homer that erased a one-run deficit and proved to be the game winner.

She is the third Gamecock this season to earn a weekly honor from the league after Chrissy O'Neal was named Player of the Week and Hilary Phillips Pitcher of the Week in the first week.

Crow and the Gamecocks will host a pair of non-conference games this week at University Field, beginning with a 5 p.m. meeting with Alabama State on Tuesday. JSU will then welcome UAB to campus on Thursday for a 6 p.m. matchup. Admission is free to all JSU home games.
