CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team remained perfect in Ohio Valley Conference play with a 7-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Friday at EIU's Rex Darling Courts.

The Gamecocks improved to 5-0 in the OVC and 9-7 overall while the Panthers fell to 1-4 in league play and 4-10 overall.

JSU swept the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Viviane Marani and Martina Dessbesell defeated Amanda Dibbs and Merritt Whitley, 8-4 at No. 1. Ralphaela Lima and Kimberly Ferris won 8-4 over Cara Huck and Annie Egan at No. 2 and Kristen Fuller and Rafaela Wenzel downed Shannon Brooks and Juliana Frey 8-5 at No. 3.

Marani defeated Dibbs, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 and Dessbesell won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Ferris eased past Frey, 6-1, 6-2 while Wenzel earned a 6-1, 5-7, 12-10 win over Brooks at No. 4. Julianna Renesto captured a three set win over Egan, 7-5, 6-7, 15-13 at No. 5. Lima added the final point of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 against Laird.

The Gamecocks close out the three-match OVC road swing against Southeast Missouri on Saturday at 11 a.m.
