JSU Track and Field Closes Out Alabama Relays On Good Note

TUSCALOOSA –
Jacksonville State posted three top 10 finishes and won two sections in three relays on the final day of the Alabama Relays at Sam Bailey Track on Sunday.

The 4x200 relay team of Courtney Clark, Laveeta Oliver, Elizabeth Bond and Natasha Sturkie won section one and placed seventh with a 1:42.73. The group was just off the JSU record of 1:41.94.

Bond, Natasha Sturkie, Tasheilra Jones and Latasha Sturkie finished first in their section and capture seventh place in the 4x400 relay while team of Shira Butler, Adonique Smith, Ashley Stovall and Ericka Stam clocked a 13:09.91 for eighth in the distance medley relay.

Individually, Chelsea Denson tied for seventh in the pole vault with a height of 10-feet, six inches and was two inches off her personal record of 10-feet, eight inches.

Christina Tupper had a distance of 37-feet, 9 ½ inches to finish second in flight two and 10th overall. Page Harris jumped 36-feet, four inches for third in flight two and finish 13th overall.

The Gamecocks host the annual Gem of the Hills next Saturday at the Gamecock Track and Field Complex.
