BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – A pair of Jacksonville State golfers have been named the Ohio Valley Conference Golfers of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Gonzalo Berlin earned the men's honor, while Lucia Fernandez earned Women's Golfer of the Week after the duo posted a pair of second place honors.

Berlin, from Ponferrado Leon, Spain, took second place honors at the Grub Mart/Young Oil Intercollegiate this past week. The junior fired rounds of 71 and 77 to finish at 148 (+4) and finish four strokes behind the individual medalist. The Gamecocks took first place honors by nine strokes at their own event, which included six total OVC teams.

Fernandez, from Cordoba, Argentina, carded rounds of 78-70-76 to finish at 224 (+8) and claim second place honors at the UNC-Wilmington Lady Seahawk Classic. She was nine strokes behind the individual medalist and competed in a field of 51 golfers. Fernandez's score helped the Gamecocks to a third place finish overall (out of nine teams) in the team competition.

The Jax State women's team returns to the course on April 5-6 at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in Morganton, NC, while the men's team will play at the Arkansas State Indian Classic on April 12-13.
