JACKSONVILLE –
Todd Cunningham went 3-for-4 and
Sam Eberle drove in a pair of runs as Jacksonville State rallied for a 7-3 win over Troy at Rudy Abbott Field on Tuesday.
JSU's
Tanner Freshour (1-1) picked up the win after pitching 3 1/3 innings without allowing a hit. Troy's Drew Hull (1-4)gave up six runs, all in the eighth inning, to suffer the loss.
The Gamecocks struck first when
Blake Seguin led off the third with a triple and
Cal Lambert had a RBI infield grounder to give JSU a 1-0 lead.
Troy took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when T.J. Rivera had a RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch. The Trojans extended the lead in the sixth after Rivera scored an unearned run to give TSU a 3-1 lead.
Jax State the plated six runs in the eighth inning to rally for the win.
Todd Cunningham had a RBI double, while
Sam Eberle followed with a two-RBI single to give the Gamecocks a 4-3 lead.
Kyle Bluestein then had a RBI triple to chase Hull from the game for the Trojans.
Daniel Adamson then had a RBI infield single to score Bluesetein and
Andrew Edge gollowed with a single to left field for the final margin.
Jacksonville State has now won eight of its last 11 games and will host in-state rival Samford on Wednesday. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. at Rudy Abbott Field.
