ROUND 2 RESULTS

WILMINGTON, N.C. – After carding a 310 in its first round on Monday morning, the Jacksonville State women's golf team battled back with a 306 in the afternoon round and pulled into a tie for second after the first day of the UNC Wilmington Lady Seahawk Classic.

The Gamecocks head into Tuesday's final round 11 shots out of the lead, which is held by Pennsylvania after the Quakers recorded a 300-305-605 on the first day. JSU is wrapped in a three-way tie for second in the nine-team event with Elon and host UNC Wilmington, with just 18 holes remaining on the River Landing Golf Course.

Jax State was led on Monday by sophomore Lucia Fernandez, who enters the final round in third place and six shots behind leader Carmen Perez-Narbon of UNCW. Fernandez opened the day with a 78, but carded a two-under-par 70 in the afternoon round on the par-72, 6,012-yard layout.

Junior Laura Cutler is in a tie for sixth at 151 after the first two rounds, thanks to an opening round 73 and a 78 in the second round.

Luz Armijo Fernandez (82-76-158) is tied for 21st, while senior Ashley Cox (79-82-161) is in a tie for 28th. Freshman Ornella Arrizon (80-82-162) wrapped up the Gamecocks' individuals on Tuesday in a tie for 31st.

Penn holds the lead over the three teams in second, while Missouri-Kansas City rounds out the top five after turning in a 301-324-625 on the day. Longwood (313-319-632), Appalachian State (324-311-635), Winthrop (320-324-644) and DePauw (334-331-665) round out the field, respectively.
