CHARLESTON, S.C. – No. 60 College of Charleston won the doubles point and four singles matches to upend the Jacksonville State men's tennis team 5-2 at Tennis Center at Patriots Point on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks lost to their third nationally ranked opponent this season, falling to 5-8 overall. Charleston won its sixth straight match to improve to 8-2 overall.
The Cougars swept the three doubles matches to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles.
Nenad Marcec and
Chris Duke accounted for JSU's two points on the afternoon. Marcec defeated Tom Delme 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Duke won 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
The Gamecocks take the remainder of spring break off before traveling to play Troy University on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
