JSU Men’s Tennis Defeats Alabama State, 6-1

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State won five singles matches after taking the doubles point en route to a 6-1 win over Alabama State on Friday at the JSU Tennis Courts.

The Gamecocks won their second straight match to improve to 3-6 overall while the Hornets fell to 1-8 overall.

JSU swept the three doubles matches to win the doubles point. Nenad Marcec and Gustavo Holz won 8-3 over Denys Alyeksyeyeu and Lex Pierre at No 1. Felipe Watanabe and Thomas Bellman defeated Clifford Frazier and Lance Deleston 8-3 at No. 2 and Brian Ingram and Emil Loeken upended Josh Donaldson and Roddrick Ivory 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Holz won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles over Frazier and Marcec blanked Pierre 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Igor Santos beat Donaldson 6-1, 6-0 at No 4 and Justin Andrews won 6-1, 6-3 over Ivory at No. 5. Bellman captured a 6-0, 6-0 win over Deleston at No. 6.

Jacksonville State returns to the courts for an Ohio Valley Conference match against Austin Peay on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Courts.
