JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team (3-5) won its second straight match by notching a 4-3 win over Chattanooga (2-5) on Wednesday at the JSU Tennis Courts.

Jax State won two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles. Viviane Marani and Martina Dessbesell won 8-3 at No. 1 over Shaina Singh and Emily Hangstefer and Kimberly Ferris and Ralphaela Lima defeated Annie Green and Brianna Wishing 8-4 at No. 3.

Dessbesell beat Hangstefer 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Rafaela Wenzel won 6-1, 6-3 over Beata Knizat at No 4. Ferris finished off the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Grace Robinette at No. 5.

Jacksonville State hosts three matches this weekend at the JSU Tennis Courts starting on Friday against Alabama State at 1:30 p.m. followed by Austin Peay on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Southern Illinois on Sunday at 11 a.m.
