JSU Men’s Tennis Falls To No. 8 Kentucky

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team fell to eighth ranked Kentucky, 6-1, on Sunday at Samford University's Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion.

Kentucky won two of the three doubles matches to stake to a 1-0 lead going into singles. Chris Duke and Axel Sunberg defeated Alberto Gonzalez and Alex Lambropoulos at No. 1 for JSU's lone doubles win.

The Wildcats, who featured two nationally ranked players in singles, won five of the six singles matches to take the win. No. 29 Alex Musialek defeated Axel Sunberg 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 and No. 129 Alberto Gonzalez upended Chris Duke, 6-1, 6-0.

Igor Santos gave JSU its lone point with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Lambropoulos at No. 4 singles. Felipe Watanabe almost gave JSU a second singles win but fell to Matt Davis at No. 6, 5-7, 6-1, and 10-7 in a super tiebreaker for the third set.

Jacksonville State returns home to host Chattanooga on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Courts.
