MONTGOMERY – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team (1-5) blanked Alabama State at the ASU Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

Jax State swept won two doubles matches and got a default at No. 3 doubles to win the doubles point. Viviane Marani and Kelly Tomlin won an 8-1 decision over Shaniece Rawlins and Safiya Taylor at No. 1 and Rafaela Wenzel and Ralphaela Lima team for an 8-0 win over Shamka Williams and Beoncia Dunn at No. 2.

The Gamecocks won all six singles matches that included an ASU default at No. 6 singles. Marani defeated Rawlins 6-0, 6-0 at No.1 and Julianna Renesto beat Taylor, 6-1, 6-2 at No 2. Kimberly Ferris 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 over Williams and Lima also won 6-0, 6-0 over Dunn at No. 4. Lima closed out the singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Michele Dick at No. 5.

Jacksonville State's match against Chattanooga set for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. has been moved to Wednesday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Courts. JSU will open conference play this weekend at Tennessee Tech on Saturday at 11 a.m.
