JSU Baseball Falls 14-2 to Michigan

LUBBOCK, Texas – Mike Dufek went 3-for-5 and drove in six runs to lead Michigan to a 14-2 win over Jacksonville State on the second day of the Red Raider Classic.

Alan Oaks (1-0) scattered four hits in six innings on the mound to earn his first win of the year. JSU's Jordan Beistline (0-1) gave up just four hits and three runs in 3 1/3 innings on the mound to suffer the loss.

Michigan (2-1) jumped out to the early lead after pushing across a run in the first before scoring six runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a three-RBI double by Dufek to give the Wolverines a 7-0 lead.

The Gamecocks (0-3) scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning after Daniel Adamson led off with a single and Sam Eberle followed with a double. Andrew Edge followed with a double to right center to score two runs to cut the lead to 7-2.

Michigan added a run in the sixth and then scored six more runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-RBI double by Dufek and Coley Crank hit a two-run home run, which was his fourth of the young season.

Adamson led the Gamecocks with a pair of hits, while Edge, Eberle and Bert Smith each had one hit.

Jacksonville State will play its final game in the Classic on Sunday against Texas Tech. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
