MACON, Ga. – Mercer University won three of four singles matches after winning the doubles point to earn a 4-3 win over the Jacksonville State (0-4) women's tennis team on Tuesday.

Jax State won at number four, five and six singles but could not muster another point during the comeback attempt. Kimberly Ferris defeated Amelia Bugge 7-5, 6-0 at No. 4 singles while Julianna Renesto beat Stephanie Cohen 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5. Kristen Fuller won at No. 6 singles over Sarah Hannah 6-0, 6-2.

The Gamecocks lost the doubles point but Viviane Marani and Martina Dessbesell earned an 8-5 win over Jennifer Lada and Bugge at No. 1 doubles.

Jacksonville State host UAB for its home opener on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Courts. Admission is free.
