Karisma Boykin scored 15 points to lead Jacksonville State to a 56-51 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Tennessee-Martin on Thursday at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Gamecocks won their second straight conference game to improve to 8-16 overall and 5-8 in the OVC while ending a three-game home losing streak.. UTM had a three-game winning streak snapped dropping to 7-16 overall and 5-8 in conference play.

UT Martin rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half, tying the game 39-39 on a Darnisha Lyles jumper with 8:11 remaining in the game and later took their first lead of the night at 42-41 on a Lyles free throw with 5:56 to play.

The Skyhawks took a 51-50 on an Alecia Weatherly basket with 2:21 to play in the game before JSU scored the final six points on six-of-eight shooting from the free throw line in the final two minutes to claim the 56-51 win.

Jacksonville State went on a 12-0 run in the first half to push a 13-11 lead to 25-11 on a Candice Carmine layup with four minutes left in the first half.

The Gamecocks shot 35 percent and held UT martin to 28 percent shooting in the half to take a 27-15 lead into intermission.

Brittany Wiley followed Boykin with 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Danielle Vaughn collected a game-high 10 rebounds and Destiny Lane had six points and eight rebounds.

The Skyhawks were led by Lyles with 21 points and nine rebounds. Weatherly added 12 points and Paige Smith scored nine points.

Jax State held a 41-27 advantage on the boards which is its largest margin of the season.

The Gamecocks host Murray State to wrap up the 2009-10 home schedule on Saturday at 2 p.m.
