NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Laveeta Oliver set the Jacksonville State 55-meter dash record to highlight several top finishes at the Tennessee State Indoor Track and Field Invitational at Gentry Arena on Saturday.
Oliver clocked the record time of 7.07 in the preliminaries and finals to finish second in the event and then ran a 25:44 to place second in the 200-meter dash. The time broke the old record of 7.16 set by current JSU assistant coach Asha Gibson in 2008.
Elizabeth Bond turned a 58.21 to win the 400-meter dash and also posted a 25:44 for third in the 200-meter dash.
In the distance events,
Kailey Jensen ran a 5:21.42 to finish second in the one-mile run with teammate
Ericka Stam in eighth with a 5:35.41.
Ashley Stovall took second in the 5000-meter run, timing an 18:53.93.
Stovall, Stam, Jensen, and
Latasha Sturkie teamed to take gold in the distance medley with a time of 12:43.12. The 4x400 relay team of Bond,
Cle'Asha Burks,
Natasha Sturkie and
Tasheilra Jones posted a 4:09.30 for seventh.
Takisha Parham highlighted the field events taking home first place in the long jump with a distance of 18-feet, nine inches.
Page Harris was 10th in the event with 17-feet, ½ inch.
Ericka Thomas' height of five-feet, five-inches put her second in the high jump while
Donnell Nocero placed eighth with a jump of five-feet, one inch.
Amber Wiley vaulted 11-feet, 6 ¼ inches for second place in the pole vault.
Ericka Markiewicz and
Chelsea Denson each recorded vaults of 10-feet for fifth and sixth respectively.
Christina Tupper was third in the triple jump with 37-feet, 8 ¾ inches followed by
Page Harris in fifth with 36-feet, 4 ¼ inches.
Andrea Hoke registered a toss of 38-feet in the shot put for fifth.
Jacksonville State competes in the Middle Tennessee State Valentines Invitational on Saturday in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
