MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Morehead State (17-7, 10-2 Ohio Valley Conference) placed four players in double figures on its way to an 80-53 win over Jacksonville State (6-16, 3-9 OVC) at Johnson Arena on Thursday.

The Eagles shot 44.4 percent and made 17-of-31 3-pointers for 54.8 percent and never trailed in the contest. JSU shot 32 percent from the floor and 29 percent from three-point land.

Morehead State came out on target, making 10-of-13 three-pointers in the first half for 76.9 percent and had a 48.4 field goal percentage to build a 40-20 lead at halftime.

The Gamecocks were as cold as MSU was hot, shooting 25.8 percent from the floor while enduring a drought that lasted over five minutes in the first half. MSU went on a 10-3 run to build and 18 point lead during the stretch.

Destiny Lane led the JSU scoring with 14 points and tied teammate Danielle Vaughn with a team-high seven rebounds. Karisma Boykin had 14 points and had five assists and two steals as the only other Gamecock in double figures. Vaughn, Zenobia Pitts, and Candice Carmine chipped in five points each.

Ashley Martin made six-of-10 field goals, including four 3-pointers to lead Eagles scoring with 16 points. Abby Steele followed with 14 points off the bench while Chynna Bozeman tossed in 14 points on a perfect four-of-four shooting from beyond the arc. Asha Harris added 12 points and collected a game-high nine rebounds.

The Gamecocks were not credited with a block during the game ending a string of 63 games with a least one block.
