JSU Rifle Second At UT Martin Invitational

MARTIN, Tenn.
– The Jacksonville State rifle team tallied a team aggregate score of 4564 points to finish second at the UT Martin Invitational on Sunday. The Gamecocks finished with 2268 in the smallbore and 2296 in air rifle to equal its score.

Murray State totaled 4606 to win the event followed by JSU, Memphis (4531), UT Martin Mix (4510), UT Martin Women (4475) and Rose Hulman (4453).

Brian Carstensen targeted a 586 as the top smallbore shooter with teammate Andrea Dardas following in second with a 574. Christina Bornefeld (562), Monica Fyfe (559) and Matt Mackenzie (546) rounded out the JSU smallbore shooters.

Dardas and Fyfe posted top 10 finishes in the air rifle competition. Dardas compiled a 585 to place third while Fyfe had a 578 in 10th. Mackenzie was 18th with a 573 and Carstensen was 19th with a 572. Kayla Allen totaled 566 points to finished 30th.

Jacksonville State will try to win a sixth straight conference title at the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championships this Saturday and Sunday in Murray, Ky.
