JSU's Ryan Perrilloux Named to National All-Star Game

EL PASO, Texas – The Pro Football Hall of Fame 2010 Texas vs the Nation Challenge announced that Jacksonville State quarterback Ryan Perrilloux has been selected to participate in its fourth annual all-star challenge set to kick off at 12 pm MST at Sun Bowl Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Perrilloux will join an elite group of players who have made the rosters of this three-year-old all-star game. Since the inaugural game in 2007, a total of 292 participants have gone on to sign NFL contracts. Some of the outstanding past participants include Chicago Bears WR Johnny Knox, Indianapolis Colts WR Pierre Garcon, Denver Broncos DT Marcus Thomas, Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott, Jacksonville Jaguars DT Terrance Knighton, and Arizona Cardinals RB Tim Hightower.

Perrilloux, the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year, ranked first nationally in passing efficiency for most of the season (172.58) and fourth nationally in points responsible for (18.6 points/game). The senior quarterback also set several other single-season school records, including touchdowns responsible for (31), total offense per game (279.3) and total offense per play (8.36). He finished his two-year career as Jax State's career leader in passing yards per game (222.3) and total offense per game (260.9) and had a career passing efficiency of 154.9.

The Laplace, La., native finished the season with 2,350 passing yards, which was the third best in school history, and his 42 career passing touchdowns is third, while his 61.0 completion percentage is also third in school history. He was a second-team All-OVC honoree in 2008. Perrilloux was also a Sports Network All-American.

Heading up the coaching staffs for this year's game will be Howard Schnellenberger, head coach for the Nation, and Bill Bates, head coach for Texas. Schnellenberger has been part of four collegiate national championships including the 1983 Miami Hurricanes who won the school's first national title ever defeating Nebraska in the 50th Orange Bowl.

Schnellenberger returns to the Sun Bowl to defend the title the Nation captured under his leadership beating out Team Texas 27-24.

After a collegiate career at the University of Tennessee, Bates signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 1983 and went on to spend his entire 15 year NFL career in Dallas, winning three Super Bowls while with the Cowboys. Bates is making his second appearance on the coaching staff for Texas vs. the Nation after serving as an assistance coach for Gene Stallings in the 2009 outing.

The game will be televised nationally on CBS College Sports. It's available on DirecTV channel 613, Dish Network channel 152 and on many national cable systems.
