JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Laveeta Oliver qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash and Amber Wiley finished seventh in the pole vault to highlight Jacksonville State's first day at the Niswonger Indoor Invitational on Friday.

Oliver clocked a 7.69 to advance to Saturday's 60-meter dash finals followed by India Boyd, who finished in second in heat nine with a time of 7.94. Shira Butler won heat 14 with an 8.14 just behind her personal best of 8.04.

Wiley recorded a height of 10 feet, 10 inches to finish in a four-way tie for seventh overall in the pole vault.

Oliver and Elizabeth Bond each timed a 25.57 to win heats 11 and 13 of the 200-meter dash and India Boyd placed second in heat 10 with a 26.04. Natasha Sturkie and Tasheilra Jones were second in their respective heats with times of 26.74 and 26.54.

Christina Tupper had JSU's top time of 9.80 in the 60-meter hurdles followed by Natasha Sturkie with a 9.72 to place second in heat 14.

The 400-meter dash, weight throw, triple jump, high jump and shot put were on Friday's schedule but were incomplete at the time of release time.

The Niswonger Invitational concludes on Saturday with events scheduled all day.
