Gamecock Women’s Hoops Set To Host Austin Peay

Jacksonville State looks to build the momentum of its two-game winning streak when Austin Peay visits Pete Mathews Coliseum on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Gamecocks have won three of their last four games coming into the contest following an 82-75 overtime win against Tennessee State on Tuesday. The win improved JSU's record 6-12 overall and 2-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Brittany Wiley and Danielle Vaughn posted double doubles to lead the Gamecocks to the win. Wiley had 22 points, one shy of her career-high, and tied a career-high with 11 rebounds. Vaughn scored a career-high 16 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. Destiny Lane added 12 points and seven rebounds followed by Zenobia Pitts with 10 points. The Gamecocks set season-highs with 82 points, 53 rebounds, 22 free throws made and 35 free throws attempted in the contest.

Wiley is scoring 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, which ranks 19th and 16th in the OVC. Boykin follows with 8.3 points and is tied for sixth in the OVC with 3.0 assists per game. Vaughn is the team's second leading rebounder with 4.6 boards per game and Danielle Beneby has blocked a team-best 14 shots, which is tied for fifth in the OVC (0.8 per game).

Austin Peay is coming off a 77-56 loss at Tennessee Tech on Thursday and enters the game 6-13 overall and 5-3 in OVC play. Five of APSU six wins have been at home with the Lady Govs struggling to a 1-7 road record.

Ashley Herring leads the Lady Govs with 13 points per game, 45 assists and 16 blocks and is third on the team with 5.4 rebounds per game. Nicole Jamen collects a team-best 8.2 rebounds per game and is second with 10.1 points per game. Jasmine Rayner follows Jamen with 6.5 rebounds per game.

This will be the 15th ever meeting between Jax State and Austin Peay with the Lady Govs owning an 8-6 lead in the series. JSU has won three of the last four, including a 75-71 overtime win in the last meeting and is 5-2 in the friendly confines of Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The game can be heard on WLJS-FM 91.9 with Mike Parris calling the play-by-play. Airtime begins with the pre-game show at 1:45 p.m.
