JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team will be in action on Saturday, when it plays host to Austin Peay in a 4:30 p.m. game at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Gamecocks will be looking to win their third-straight league game on Saturday, when they hit the halfway point of the OVC season. The mid-season game will have some league positioning on the line, with both teams entering the contest in a tie for fourth place in the conference standings.

JSU welcomes a Govs team to Pete Mathews Coliseum that has been a thorn in its side over the years. The matchup will mark the 13th meeting between the two schools, with Austin Peay claiming 11 of the first 12 meetings, including the last six.

The Gamecocks enter the game having won three of their last five games, including a convincing 85-67 win over Tennessee State on Thursday in a game that was televised nationally on ESPNU. JSU shot 57 percent in the second half to overcome an eight-point deficit and used 20 TSU turnovers to pull away from the Tigers. Junior Nick Murphy notched his fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 boards, while junior Trenton Marshall pitched in 21 points and nine rebounds. Sophomores Dominique Shellman and Stephen Hall also had impressive nights with 10 assists and 12 points, respectively.

Marshall, a native of Garyville, La., leads the OVC in scoring with 18.6 points per game, including a league-best 19.0 points per game in conference play. Murphy is scoring 15.6 points per game in OVC play, fifth-best in the league.

The Govs are looking to bounce back from a 94-90 loss at Tennessee Tech on Thursday, one that saw TTU shoot 56 percent from the floor and win the battle on the boards. TTU overcame a 59-percent night from the free throw line by getting 32 attempts.

Wes Channels and Anthony Campbell lead the way for the Govs offensive attack, averaging 15.7 and 15.6 points per game, respectively. Both are scoring over 17 a game in league play.
