LIVE STATS | LIVE AUDIO

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State basketball team returns home on Thursday to host Eastern Kentucky in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup that has been moved up to 5:30 p.m.

The Gamecocks (5-8, 1-2 OVC) will be looking to snap a four-game skid and cool off a red-hot Colonels (10-5, 3-1 OVC) squad that has won three of its last four games and is looking to go 4-1 in league play for the first time since the 1991-92 season.

Thursday will mark the 14th time that JSU and EKU have squared off on the hardwood, with the Colonels clinging to a 7-6 advantage in the series. The Gamecocks, however, are 6-1 against the Colonels in Pete Mathews Coliseum and have won the last four home games in the series.

JSU is looking to bounce back from an 0-2 trip north earlier in the week that included losses at Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. The latter defeat, a 78-66 loss at SEMO on Monday, saw junior Trenton Marshall score a Division I school record 37 points, the most by a Gamecock player since Charles Burkette netted 37 against Athens State in 1991.

Marshall is now averaging 19.1 points per game, which leads the OVC and ranks 42nd nationally. The Garyville, La., native also leads the league with an .862 free throw percentage.

Eastern Kentucky will be trying to keep rolling after a 2-0 OVC homestand that culminated with a 76-71 win over Austin Peay on Monday. Justin Stommes leads the Colonels with 15.1 points per game, thanks to a .514 field goal percentage and a .435 clip from behind the arc. The Colonels are connecting on 10.2 3-pointers per game, which ranks them second nationally.

The game will follow the JSU women's team's game with EKU, which will tip at 3 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on the JSU Radio Network.

Notes: Trenton Marshall recorded his sixth 20-point game in Monday's loss at SEMO…Junior Nick Murphy needs just four rebounds to become the fifth player in JSU's Division I history to corral 400 boards in a career…Murphy also surpassed the 800 points mark for his career in Monday's loss at SEMO, making him just the seventh player in JSU's Division I history to do so…Junior guard Jay-R Strowbridge left the team for personal reasons early in the week. The Huntsville native averaged 12.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in his 12 games with the Gamecocks this season.
