JSU's Ryan Perrilloux and T.J. Heath Garner All-American Honors

PHILADELPHIA – Jacksonville State's Ryan Perrilloux and T.J. Heath were both named to The Sports Network All-America team, which was released on Wednesday.

Perrilloux was named third-team quarterback, while Heath was named third-team defensive back. The two players become the 46th and 47th All-Americans in Gamecock football history.

“I'm proud that Ryan and T.J. both were recognized nationally for their outstanding play on the football field” said JSU head coach Jack Crowe. “They were both leaders on the field and both were a major reason we finished with an 8-3 record and posted the best record in the OVC.”

Perrilloux, who was named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year last month, led the conference in passing efficiency (172.58) and ranked fourth nationally in points responsible for (18.6 points/game). The senior quarterback also set several other single-season school records, including touchdowns responsible for (31), total offense per game (279.3) and total offense per play (8.36). He finished his two-year career as Jax State's career leader in passing yards per game (222.3) and total offense per game (260.9) and had a career passing efficiency of 154.9.

The LaPlace, La., native finished the season with 2,350 yards, which was the third best in school history, and his 42 career passing touchdowns is third, while his 61.0 completion percentage is also third in school history.
The senior signal caller won Offensive Player of the Week honors seven times in 2009, which is an OVC record, and he claimed the honor nine times during his two-year career to tie for the most-ever in the league's 61-year history and was also named the OVC Offensive Player of the Year last month

Heath, a product of Alexandria High School, was a second-team selection at defensive back. Last week, he was named to the Associated Press All-America squad.

Heath led the Ohio Valley Conference in passes defended and led the Gamecocks with six interceptions, including returning two for touchdowns against UT Martin earlier this season.

The junior also led the team with 10 pass break-ups and also forced a fumble and blocked a kick. He recorded 34 total tackles on the season, including 20 solo stops.

The JSU duo becomes the ninth and tenth All-Americans since the Gamecocks joined the Ohio Valley Conference in 2003.
