Jacksonville State finished the 2009 season ranked No. 16 in the final The Sports Network poll and the FCS Coaches Polls, which were both released on Monday.

The Gamecocks, which finished the season with the best record in the Ohio Valley Conference with an 8-3 record and a 6-1 conference mark, won the final four games of the season. It marks 15 straight weeks JSU has been ranked in the Top 25 polls.

Jax State was one of two Ohio Valley Conference teams ranked in the final polls, joining Eastern Illinois, who was ranked No. 15 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 19 in The Sports Network poll.

Villanova was the unanimous No. 1 after claiming the schools' first-ever National Championship over No. 2 Montana 23-31 in the FCS title game in Chattanooga last week.
