LIVE STATS | LIVE AUDIO

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team will wrap up its five-game homestand on Monday, when the Gamecocks host Nicholls State at 7 p.m. in Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Gamecocks and Colonels will square off for the 13th time on Monday night at Pete Mathews Coliseum, but the final game of JSU's five-game homestand will be the first meeting between the two schools in either's Division I history. The former Gulf South Conference rivals from their Division II days started a series in 1972 that stalled after Nicholls State moved to Division I in the early 1980s.

The last meeting between the two came in the first round of the 1980 NCAA Tournament, when NSU claimed a thrilling 78-76 win over the Gamecocks in Warrensburg, Mo. The two's first meeting in 19 years will be the sixth between the two in Pete Mathews Coliseum, where the Gamecocks hold a 4-1 edge. The Colonels have used a 5-0 advantage in Thibodaux, La., to hold an 8-4 lead in the all-time series.

JSU is looking to win its fourth-straight game as the Gamecocks welcome the Colonels to Pete Mathews Coliseum before taking to the road for a Dec. 29 game at Ole Miss. The road game will be their first in 33 days, with the last game away from Jacksonville coming at Georgia on Nov. 27.

The Gamecocks are coming off an impressive 95-78 win over Norfolk State on Tuesday that saw JSU knock down a season-high 15 3-pointers. Junior Jeremy Bynum led the long-distance barrage, draining a school-record nine treys on 14 attempts. The Oxford, Ala., native broke the old record of eight, which was held by three players.

Junior Trenton Marshall recorded his first career double-double in the win with 16 points and 10 boards, while senior Amadou Mbodji blocked four shots and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds. Junior Nick Murphy added 16 points while dishing a career-best seven assists in the win.

Sophomore Dominique Shellman also dished seven assists to lead JSU to a season-best 27 assists on 31 field goals.
