JSU's T.J. Heath Named All-America by Associated Press

NEW YORK - Jacksonville State's T.J. Heath was named to the Associated Press All-America team, which was released on Wednesday.

Heath, a product of Alexandria High School, was a second-team selection at defensive back.

Heath led the Ohio Valley Conference in passes defended and led the Gamecocks with six interceptions, including returning two for touchdowns against UT Martin earlier this season.

The junior also led the team with 10 pass break-ups and also forced a fumble and blocked a kick. He recorded 34 total tackles on the season, including 20 solo stops.

“I'm proud that T.J. was recognized for his outstanding play on the football field,” said JSU head coach Jack Crowe. “He was one of the reasons we finished with an 8-3 record and posted the best record in the OVC.”

Heath becomes JSU's 46th player to earn All-America honors in school history and the ninth since the Gamecocks joined the Ohio Valley Conference in 2003.
