Senior Sendoff: Jentzen Moore - Holy Spirit Catholic

Name: Jentzen Moore

High School: Holy Spirit Catholic High School

What was your most memorable meet and why?
This year's State Championships - I had never medaled at State before. I was injured during XC season and wasn't sure how the season would go. It was one of best meets ever. I became 1A state Champion in the 1600m and 3200m and as anchor on the 4x800 meter relay and finished 2nd in the 800 meters. I set PRs in all 4 events. After not having a track season last year it was the best I could hope for.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
Northridge Invitational in Track this year as it had 6A/7A competition that I haven't faced before.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why?
I think maybe the State Championships this year. I didn't think I could and it was our Coach's first track and field distance state Champion. Maybe also the 4x800 meter relay state championship because the team had 2 seniors and a 7th grader but we somehow pulled out the win.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school?
I wish would have taken Cross Country season a bit more seriously to better prepare me for track season over the years. Having an injury this XC season showed how much I missed the sport and how much it prepared me for Spring track.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career?
Injuries in the 2020 XC season really left me Wondering if it would be able to compete in the Spring. With also everything going on with COVID, it was a bit much and honestly I was a bit down. But, with hard work, constant training, and encouragement from my parents, Coach B, and my teammates I was ready for the Spring.

What will you miss the most?
Just being on a high school team; the atmosphere of the meets, my coach and my teammates

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Make your biggest moves in the off-season (training, prepping), listen to your coach(es), and most importantly enjoy the process

What are your post-highschool or college plans? Who would you like to say thank you to?
I will be attending Meridian Community College and running track for the team. I would to say thank you to my parents and my sister, to Holy Spirit Catholic School, and to my Coach Tracey Brendlinger Raines for everything
