Shawnti Jackson and Kayla Davis Double at The Galleria Games

Shawnti Jackson (Run U Xpress/Wakefield) and Kayla Davis (Run U Xpress/Hough) took their talents down to Alabama for the Galleria Games and they did not disappoint. Jackson ran in the 15-16 aged division 60m and 400m while Davis competed in the 17-18 aged 200m and 400m. The Run U Xpress duo certainly put on a show with their performances.

Shawnti Jackson, the defending indoor 55m and 300m state champion, took down a loaded field in the final heat of the 60m dash clocking 7.39 tying her personal best and tied for US #1 this season.

Doubling back in the 400m with RunU Xpress teammate Kaylyn Brown, Jackson shot quickly out of the blocks of the 200m track and went right on the leader's hip. Jackson made her final move over the last 50 meters and edges out Sydney Harris (Jackrabbit, GA) with a new personal best of 55.61!

Kayla Davis shined just as bright as Jackson this weekend, starting with the 400m.

Davis got out to a very quick start, running her first 200m in around 25-26 seconds. The standout junior did not let up over the final 200m and powered home in a new meet record and US #1 time of 55.00.

Davis doubled back in the 200m later that day and showed no signs of fatigue. Davis looked to continue to rewrite the record books as the 200m meet record of 24.44 was in her sights. Davis got out to a great start like we have seen so many times, making up the stagger on her outside in the first 100m, and roared down the final 50m to set a new meet record of 23.92 and became the first girl to go under 24 seconds in the 200m this season!
