TROY, Ala. – After notching a top-ten finish at the conference meet, Gracie Booher has been dubbed the women's cross country Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday.

Booher becomes the first Trojan to earn a postseason honor in Troy's D-I history.

"We are so happy for Gracie," head coach Elliott Blount said. "She is a product of hard work and the unwavering support of her family and teammates. Gracie's willingness to earnestly confront the challenges the sport presents athletes is humbling. I imagine anyone that meets Gracie is delighted by her demeanor and senses that she has great things ahead of her."

Booher earns the honor after being the only freshman at the Sun Belt Championships to finish inside of the top ten, notching a 10th-place finish in 18:03.90.

The Auburn, Ala. native helped lead the Trojans to a historic season as one of Troy's top three finishers in all four meets this season, highlighted by a third-place finish in the season opener.

Booher and the Trojans took home first place in the Azalea City Classic and UAB Blazer Classic marking the first time Troy has won two races in a season since at least 2014. The women's program-best fourth place finish in the Sun Belt meet marked the highest finish in a conference meet since the squad finish third in the 1998 ASUN Championships.
