Alabama Closes Schools for Remainder of Year

Today, in a press conference with Governor Kay Ivey and State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey, the announcement was made that PreK-12 public school buildings will not reopen this school year.  While a previous closure had been announced until April 6th, the state of Alabama will now move to a "virtual" model for the remainder of the school year.

The AHSAA is expected to make a statement regarding school closure sometime on Friday.

Editor's Note: It doesn't look good folks.  In every other circumstance where a state has closed school buildings for the year, the athletic governing body for that state has suspended athletic contests for the remaining school year.
