Tamari Davis once again on Friday proved she isn't to be slept on.

The East Ridge (FL) High School junior tied what seemed to be a pretty untouchable 60 meter national high school record, winning the University of South Carolina Gamecock Opener in 7.19 seconds.

But that time is even more impressive than the national record mark it tied, because when Ashley Owens set the mark in 2004, she did it at altitude.

Davis produced that result on Friday against a collegiate field featuring Norfolk State's Kiara Grant, a first team All-American in the 100m last year at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Davis opened her season at 7.44 and last set a personal record in 2018 with a time of 7.25 -- a US No. 6 all-time effort.

But the junior, who transferred from Oak Hall High School this fall, likely has had more consistent training with coach Gary Evans, who operates out of Clermont -- where East Ridge is based.

Davis has also produced times of 7.27, 7.30 and 7.31 for 60m over her career.
