Liberty (Bealton) junior, Sam Rodman, is the best 1K runner in the nation right now. Not only does he own the US' best time of 2:29.66 but he has also run two US #1 times. All three of his times this season would rank inside the top eight nationally.
Rodman, a Class 4 runner, was 5th last year at indoor states with a personal best of 2:35. This year though he enters the season on a much different note. He is already six seconds faster and looking to make it closer to nine or even ten seconds.
His success is not an overnight occurrence though. He has steadily been improving and over the last year has improved and PR'd in nearly every event. This included running a big PR in XC this past season.
Sam is currently three for three in the 1K this season and will race it again in two weeks at the VA Showcase. It is there where he should face some more great competition and potentially be pushed to another sub 2:30 time.
