Athlete Name: Abby Nunnelly

School: Alexandria High School

What was your most memorable meet and why? The Calhoun County Championship where our 4x800 team set the county record.

Where did you face your biggest competition? The state meet because all of the best girls in the state come together at one meet to compete.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why? Being an 8 time state placer stands out the most because it proves to me that I am one of the best runners in the state.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school? I would join the track team earlier than I did.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career? I had to break through a wall in my head where I believed that I couldn't run any faster than I did previously. In the end, my team and coach helped push me harder and re-motivate me.

What will you miss the most? I will miss my team and my coaches the most.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes? There will be times where you feel like you have reached your limit and your mind will tell you to stop, but you have to push through and always give it your best.

What are your post-high school or college plans? I am attending the University of North Alabama and I am on scholarship to run for the cross country team. Roar Lions!

Who would you like to say thank you to? I would first off like to thank my coaches throughout my high school career because without them I wouldn't have even had the opportunity to run. Second, I want to thank my family and friends for always supporting me and motivating me in everything I do. Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates that have been with me for up to 6 years. We have experienced many wonderful wins and triumphs but also some heartbreaking losses. Through all of that, we always stuck together as a family and I will love them forever. Go Cubs!
