Senior Spotlight: Sarah Elkins - Madison Academy

What was your most memorable meet and why? 
The 2016 3A State meet at Cullman my freshman year.  I medaled in all four events including two state championships (4X100, 4X800) and runner up in the 400 meters.

Where did you face your biggest competition? 
Area meets here in Huntsville against the 7A schools.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why? 
My six relay events as state champion (3)/runners-up (3) and being able to share with my team mates in such a huge accomplishment.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school? 
Focusing on the shorter distances (60/100/200) instead of the 400 & 800 meters.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career? 
Running at 2017 4A State meet at Gulf Shores with mononucleosis.

What will you miss the most?  
My team mates.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes? 
Push yourself at practice.

What are your post-high school or college plans? 
Attending UNA to study early childhood education. Unfortunately, they cut the women's track program.

Team mate Elizabeth Nix (now at Winter Park HS FL)for showing me that winning medals was a thing.
