Senior Sendoff - Erin Hines - Pelham High School

Athlete Name: Erin Hines

School: Pelham High School

What was your most memorable meet and why? My most memorable meet was State, just getting to see how far I have come over the years. Medaling in all four of my events was just a joy for all my hard work.

Where did you face your biggest competition? I faced some of my toughest competitors at the Mobile Challenge of Champions.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why? My best high school accomplishment would have to be when I went to New Balance Nationals Indoor 2016 placing 5th in the nation in the pentathlon! After a ruff start of the pentathlon, I managed to fight back stronger than ever.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school? I would change my mindset from freshman year about hurdles due to the fact that I cried every time my Coaches  put me in them, believe it or not.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome? If everyone knew me when I first started track I had a major fear of hurdles, no matter the height. Now going into my senior year I have began to embrace hurdles, placing at state in both the 100mh and 300mh. This just reminds me to never give up all things are possible through Christ.

What will you miss the most? I will miss all of my fellow teammates and our silly bus rides from meet to meet.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes? You first have to believe in yourself before others do. The thing holding you back the most is your....Mindset.
