Senior Sendoff - Abigail Davis - Hartselle High School

Athlete Name: Abigail Davis

School: Hartselle High School

What was your most memorable meet and why?   My most memorable meet was this year's track state meet. I made so many great memories with my teammates and other friends I've made over the years. I had season bests in all my events, and even set two school records.

Where did you face your biggest competition?   I definitely faced my biggest competition each year at state, for both indoor and outdoor track, and cross country. The competition pushed me to set huge personal bests each season.
Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?   Placing third at track state in the 3200 my junior year was my best accomplishment. The year before, I had placed fourth, and I made it a goal to get third the next year. Medaling at state made all the hard work I had put in that season worth it.
If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?   If I could change anything, it would've been the amount of work I had put in the summer before my senior season. I didn't put in near as much as I should've, and my times in most of my events suffered because of it.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?   My senior year, I never really had a healthy period. From the end of summer, I kept getting injured or sick. Having to work around injury and illness really set me back this season.
What will you miss the most?   I will miss my teammates and all the friends I have made over the past four years.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?   Have fun with it!! I cannot stress how much easier running is if you just learn to love it.
What are your post-highschool or college plans?   I will be running track and cross country for the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Who would you like to say thank you to?   I would like to thank all the coaches I've had over the years, especially Coach Lopez, who started me on my running career.
