Senior Sendoff - Karri Green - Piedmont High School

Athlete Name: Karri Green

School: Piedmont High School

What was your most memorable meet and why?

The 2016 AHSAA State Championships 1-3A was my most memorable meet. I accomplished my goal of setting two 3A state records in the 400m dash and 200m dash.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

At the 2016 AHSAA State Outdoor Track and Field Championships 1-3A I faced my biggest competition in the 100m hurdles. In the beginning of the race I was trailing behind a little bit ,but I did not want to go out my senior year losing. This race gave me the biggest push to win.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?

Winning the 400m dash and setting a new record at The Indoor State Track and Field Championships 1-3A is an accomplishment that stands out the most to me. It set the tone for record setting the rest of the year. It opened my eyes as to what I can become as a 400m runner.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If I could repeat this experience all over again. I would have taken track more seriously in 9th grade.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacles I had to overcome was my act of falling at the end of my races short of the finish line and overall my mental blocks with hurdles.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss competing against the other athletes, being there to help my younger teammates, and overall the fun we had together at practice and meets.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Where your mind is at before a race and at practice affects your race. Keep your mind positive and work hard and you will accomplish everything you desire. Do not hold back because four years fly by fast especially when you are having fun.

What are your post-highschool or college plans?

After high school I plan to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I will be running track. I plan to major in nursing.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to Coach Mitchell for signing me up for events and to my mom for always being there for me and going the extra mile to help me improve.
